My Approach to Wedding Photography

I love telling stories with photographs. It’s what I try to do in all of my photography. And a wedding day is such a beautiful story to tell.

I strive to capture all the important moments of the day. The emotions, the look, the feel, and most importantly, the connections between you and your loved ones. It’s a day spent surrounded by the most important people in your life, all of them there to celebrate you and your marriage. I really enjoy capturing these stories. I believe wedding photos are historic documents for you and your family. I love knowing that my clients can look back years from now and relive their day through my work.

My goal is for my clients to enjoy their day and not feel like they spent it all being directed by their photographer. One bride referred to me as a “photo ninja” and that made me smile. I love hearing things like, “We didn’t even realize that you we’re there when that moment happened.” I strive to work in a quiet and unobtrusive way, so that you and your guests are never distracted by my presence. My years of work in journalism have helped me develop the skills required to capture moments as they happen.

Of course there are some photos that need to be posed and they are very important. I enjoy making these as well. It’s an opportunity to make some really memorable portraits of you (and your wedding party and family.) I just try to keep the posing to a minimum so that you can get back to your party (and I can document it.)

I take this job very seriously and really love doing it. I always feel a special connection to my clients when the day is done. It is an honor to be part of such an important day in their lives.
