Frequently asked Questions
My goal is to create authentic, natural and beautiful photos in a way that puts people at ease. I want my clients to barely notice me most of the time, because what matters most is that they enjoy the day. I use the skills I’ve developed over the years in photojournalism to capture real moments, without intruding or interrupting the flow of the day. When people aren’t distracted or made to feel self conscious by the camera, it allows their true emotions to shine through in the photos. There are a few times during a typical wedding day when some posed photos will be taken. Read on to hear more about those…
Yes, and I love doing them. There are certain images, like portraits, wedding party and family groups that require some planning, posing and direction. These are all really important and posed photos of the couple are often some of the best photos of the day. But I do everything I can to keep the experience quick and painless so that you can get back to celebrating with your friends and families.
Not just some, but most of my clients have expressed a concern like this! 90% of the time, I’m just quietly documenting in the background. You’ll be with some of your favorite people, with a lot of fun stuff going on, so you likely won’t even notice me. When it comes to your posed photos, I use a technique which is essentially a hybrid of a posed and candid photo. I find locations that I think will look great and then suggest some easy poses for couples, having them focus on each other. It’s always a really happy day, so the smiles come easily for couples when they are together like this, holding each other close or walking hand in hand. I make lots of photos of couples connecting like this, and every once in a while I have them look over at me while they are already smiling and feeling at ease with each other. It truly works every time and the feed back I’ve received has been so positive. Check out my testimonials page to read what some of my camera shy clients have said.
Maybe. I work alone about 75% of the time and I feel very comfortable working this way. However, if your wedding is on the large side (big wedding party, more than 150 guests) a second photographer can be a big help. I have some trusted friends that I call on when needed. You can always decide to add this option later in the planning process too.
Your will receive previews no later than 48 hours after the wedding! That gallery usually consists of around 75-100 photos. The full gallery of photos will typically be delivered 4 or 5 weeks after the wedding, though I allow up to 8 weeks in the contract, in case it ends up being an especially busy season. The total number of photos delivered varies but is most often around 75 images per hour of photography.
By law, the photographer owns the copyright. I deliver high res images to my clients with unrestricted license to print and share. You can make prints and albums right in your gallery, but you’re not required to use my services. You can share images online too. I just ask that you make an effort to to credit me if you use them on social media.
Yes! I’m based in Western Massachusetts and I love to travel. If your wedding is two hours or less from my home, there is no charge for travel. If your location requires extended travel time, air fare, an overnight stay, etc., just reach out and I can put together a quote for travel expenses.
